Self-confidence. It is one of those terms we all think we understand—until we are asked to define it. Or worse, until we realize we have lost it.
Here is a truth that might surprise you: you were born with an abundance of self-confidence. As an infant, you knew your needs would be met. You cried when you were hungry, no matter the time of day or night. You did not question your worthiness. You simply knew you were enough.
So what happened? How does that innate, unshakable confidence fade into self-doubt, people-pleasing, and fear?
Somewhere along the way, someone influenced or challenged your self-confidence in a negative way. It could have been words spoken. It could have been as a result of actions someone took or even the inactions of someone. A comment. A criticism. A moment of ridicule. An abandonment. A neglect. And somewhere deep inside, you internalized it. You bought into their perspective of you—and made it your own. It is not just you. Everyone has a moment in which it happened to them as well.
Let me walk you through how RTT® can help you reclaim what was always yours.
The Moment You Lost It
Most of us can point to a moment—a specific event—when our confidence took a hit. For a lot of people, it happened in childhood. A peer made fun of them in front of others. A teacher embarrassed them infront of classmates. A parent’s words cut deeper than they intended.
For others, it happened in young adulthood. And now in adulthood, it resurfaces when a boss dismissed their contributions. A partner betrayed their trust. A friend diminished their success.
The details vary, but the result is the same: we internalize the negativity and start to believe it without even realizing it. We let one person’s opinion become our inner voice.
Here is the shift I help my clients make in hypnosis. It was never about you. When someone diminishes you, it is a reflection of them—their jealousy, their pain, their insecurity. People who are secure with themselves do not need to tear others down. I have a sports analogy I use with my clients. Imagine you are standing on the podium, having earned first place through hard work and dedication. The person trying to kick you off is not there because they deserve the spot—they are there because they cannot handle seeing you succeed.
Once you understand that, you stop taking criticism personally. You stop internalizing other people’s projections just like it hurt in childhood or young adulthood, you move beyond the emotions, and you understand that hurt belongs to the other person. Remember, hurt people hurt people. And that is when real healing begins.
How RTT® Rebuilds Confidence
During an RTT® session, we do not just talk about confidence in the abstract. We go to the root and the cause. We locate the specific event, time, and place where your confidence was shaken. We revisit it—not to relive the pain, but to understand it from a new, empowered perspective.
I help you see the situation differently. I help you recognize that the person who hurt you was operating from their own wounds. That does not excuse their behavior in any way, but it does free you from carrying the weight of it.
Once we have that understanding, we rebuild. Using the transformational recording, we anchor new, empowering beliefs into your subconscious that You are worthy. You are capable. You are enough.
You listen to that recording for 21 days. The old, limiting beliefs are replaced with new, empowering ones. Your thoughts shift. Your energy shifts. And the world responds to that shift.
Small Steps: The Mirror Exercise
One of the most powerful things you can do for yourself takes less than a minute.
I was speaking with a mother recently who told me she has her two young sons stand in front of the mirror every morning and say affirmations. Her six-year-old looks at his reflection and says, “I am beautiful. I am successful.” He does not fully understand the word “successful” yet—but he is planting seeds.
I applauded her. Not many parents think to do this. But those affirmations are building neural pathways. They are creating a foundation of self-worth that will carry those boys through the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
If you are an adult who never received that kind of encouragement, it is never too late. Start today. Look yourself in the mirror and say out loud: “I am enough. I am capable. I deserve good things.” It will feel awkward at first. That is normal. Keep doing it. The more you say it, the more you will believe it.
What Hypnosis Actually Feels Like
I hear the same concern repeatedly. “I’m scared of being hypnotized. Will I lose control?”
Let me put your mind at ease. During RTT®, you are fully aware of your surroundings and the sounds around you. You remember everything. You are in complete control. If there is something you do not want to share—a name, a specific detail—you do not have to. You can keep it private, as long as you understand the link.
The induction is simple. I guide you down ten steps, counting back from ten to one. The process takes about five to ten minutes—not the long, drawn-out inductions other hypnotherapists use. It is deeply relaxing, like being fully immersed in a captivating movie or lost in a meaningful conversation.
You are not asleep. You are not unconscious. You are simply in a state of intense relaxation where your subconscious mind becomes absolutely open to healing.
Confidence in Action: Interviews and Beyond
One area where confidence is absolutely critical is job interviews. Many people are talented and capable but fall apart when asked to talk about themselves.
Here is the truth: the interviewers want you to succeed. They are looking for the best candidate, and they are hoping it is you. Shift your perspective. Instead of seeing it as an interrogation, see it as your moment to shine. Prepare your stories. Practice your delivery. And remember—if there is ever a time to present your best self, it is now.
Your Invitation to Reclaim What Is Yours
If you have been carrying the weight of someone else’s words or actions, if you have been doubting your worth, or if you simply want to feel more confident in your own skin, I would be honored to guide you.
You were born with confidence. It is still in there. Let me help you get it back.
